Case 10 answer

This scenario is a hospital’s nightmare!
The index patient had active disease and was not in isolation because it
was not clearly suspected because he had another diagnosis.
Therefore, all patients (roommates) and staff (nursing and physicians)
who were in close proximity to the patient are risk for exposure.
These patients and staff should be recalled and tested with PPD, which
should be repeated again after three months.
Prophylaxis should be offered if the PPD is ³
10 mm.
