Residency Program Aims – Internal Medicine
1. Teach acute inpatient medicine with supervised autonomy such that graduates are proficient and confident in their skills
2. Teach ambulatory medicine in a setting of high continuity while training the resident to self-assess through practice improvement
3. Provide residents with high quality advising and research mentoring to achieve their academic and career goals
4. Provide residents with robust opportunities for scholarly activity
5. Have all graduates interested in fellowships match into the specialty and program of their choice
6. Provide a collegial, nurturing, culturally sensitive environment for learning and growth
7. Teach the management of complex medical patients in a manner consistent with high value care
8. Prepare all graduates to pass the ABIM certification exam on the first attempt
