Sabbath Observer TrackIn our residency program, we offer a Sabbath Observer (SO) track designed to support residents who observe a weekly day of rest based on their religious beliefs. This track ensures that these residents have their weekly day off scheduled on Saturdays, with no long shifts assigned on Fridays. Our aim is to accommodate residents' religious practices while aligning with the educational and clinical goals of our program. *Each PGY level has up to2 Sabbath Observer (SO) positions available.
AlertPlease be aware that the Jacobi Medical Center/North Central Bronx Hospital Program, with NRMP # 3172140C4, is a different residency program separate from our program, Jacobi Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine Program.
To avoid any confusion during your application process via ERAS, we kindly request applicants to ensure they are applying to the correct program of their interest.
Eligibility Criteria
All USMLE Step exams must be passed on the first attempt.
Applicants must score 240 or greater on USMLE Step 2 CK.
Applicants from Osteopathic Medical schools (DO) in the US can submit COMLEX scores but must also submit USMLE Step 2 CK scores for their file to be reviewed.
For optimal integration into our program, applicants with US Clinical Experience (USCE) are preferred. We prioritize hands-on Clerkships or Sub-internships, followed by Observerships and virtual rotations, in that order.
Research Experience
Due to the academic rigor of our program, having research experience with publications or posters on your CV is highly beneficial for securing an interview at Jacobi.
While not mandatory, it is strongly encouraged to have some research experience.
Application Process (2025 ERAS Cycle)
All applications are accepted exclusively through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service).
Our residency program participates exclusively in the NRMP (National Resident Matching Program) match.
We do not offer pre-match options.
Incomplete applications will not be reviewed until all documents are uploaded to ERAS.
It is advised to submit all required documents to ERAS as early as possible to ensure timely review.
For the 2025 ERAS cycle, applicants now have the opportunity to indicate interest in up to 15 programs through the signaling feature. We strongly encourage applicants to signal our program, as failure to do so may significantly diminish the likelihood of receiving an interview.

We will mostly only review applicants who signal our program.
Due to the high volume of applications, we are unable to respond to all inquiries immediately. Applicants selected for interviews will be notified by email.
