Dr. Serban Fotino completed medical school in Bucharest, Romania in 1954. After emigrating to the US, he completed an internal medicine residency and chief residency in 1969 at Jacobi Hospital. Dr. Fotino has been a long-term member of the Ambulatory Medicine faculty. Until the 1990’s he was the medical director of the Jacobi Homecare program. In accordance with his medical expertise in renal physiology, Dr. Fotino is board certified in both Nephrology and Internal Medicine. He is a local expert in hypertension control.
Dr. Fotino spends his time precepting in the general medical clinic and in the renal clinic in addition to providing primary patient care. He is a full professor of Internal Medicine in the Einstein system and won the prestigious Samuel Rosen Outstanding Teacher Award in 2002. That same year he was elected to the Leo M. Davidoff Society for Outstanding Achievement in the Teaching of Medical Students.
Serban and his wife, Marilena, live in Ossining.
