Dr. Gutwein earned his B.A. in mathematics from New York University in 1994 and from there went on to earn his M.D. from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1998. He then completed his residency training at Lenox Hill Hospital in 2001, where he stayed on for a year as Chief Resident before heading to Westchester Medical Center in July 2002. Dr. Gutwein spent four and a half years as the Medical Director of the Adult Primary Care Center teaching housestaff and running the Medicine Clinic at Westchester Medical Center before being promoted to Program Director. In addition to his residency responsibilities, Dr. Gutwein was also the Director of the Internal Medicine Subinternship for New York Medical College for six and a half years.
Dr. Gutwein enjoys working with residents and medical students, both at the bedside and in the conference room discussing cases and Quality Improvement/Patient Safety initiatives.
